The Community Development Department held a Meet and Greet at its new location on September 14, 2018. The department underwent a name change and relocation this past July. Previously located at the Tifton Police Department, the department’s relocation to 204 North Ridge Avenue makes them more accessible to all citizens. The name change is intended to reflect a more inclusive and accurate role that the department serves in our community.
Employees, citizens, and contractors were all in attendance at the Meet and Greet. Community Development Director and City Engineer, John Shepherd, opened up the ceremony by thanking the attendees for their support during the transition of the name change and relocation. Assistant Community Development Director, Danny Wallace, presented a plaque to those who dedicated their time and effort to the renovations and assisted with the moving process. The plaque was presented to the Mayor and Council, City Manager Pete Pyrzenski, Fire Chief Bobby Bennett, John Domagala, Chris Thomas, Dustin Howell, Joe Perry, Steven Henderson, and Jonathan Taylor. Mr. Wallace also recognized the Community Development Department employees and thanked them for their hard work. Woodmen of the World dedicated an American flag to the new building and raised the flag for the first time during the ceremony.
The Community Development Department is open from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM and can be reached at 229-391-3950.
