City manager, Pete Pyrzenski, was appointed to the GMA (Georgia Municipal Association) Legislative Policy Council for the 2018-2019 term. The LPC is made up of 37 City officials, both elected and appointed.
The LPC is the focal point for the Association’s legislative policy effort, combining the efforts and input of GMA’s six standing policy committees with its district outreach effort. The Council prepares a proposed Legislative Platform for consideration by GMA’s six policy committees at the Annual Convention in Savannah. The LPC also provides real-time feedback and advice on critical issues at the Capitol, during the legislative session. It is the Council’s duty to maintain close contact with legislators both in and out of session. The LPC works to close the information gap between challenges and opportunities our local governments face and our legislators.
Pyrzenski said “It’s an honor to represent South Georgia and I appreciate the opportunity to serve in this capacity.”
The City of Tifton will be well represented during the 2018-2019 term with Pyrzenski serving along with Mayor Julie Smith, who was elected to the GMA Board of Directors this past June at the 2018 GMA Annual Convention in Savannah. Mayor Julie Smith stated, “I am excited to represent the City of Tifton and South Georgia through this respected organization during the 2018-2019 term. I know that Mr. Pyrzenski and I will gain knowledge and experience we can utilize to continue to make the City of Tifton thrive.”
