TIFTON, Ga. – Tifton Fire Department celebrated the latest graduating class of the Apparatus Operator/Aerial Ladder Training (AOPL) course on Thursday.
AOPL is a specialized course for firefighters to operate aerial apparatus like ladder trucks. The training covers topics such as the types and construction of pumps, proper apparatus positioning, and system maintenance and testing, based on the NFPA 1002 standard.
Tifton Fire Department’s latest class achieved a 100% pass rate under the specialized instruction of Tifton Training Lieutenant Jacob Carter.
The class consisted of 5 lieutenants and 11 firefighters who exceled in their training, officially becoming certified. The Tifton Fire Department is committed to providing citizens with the best fire protection service possible. This is accomplished by maintaining a staff of highly trained personnel, trained in different aspects and scenarios, such as AOPL. Currently, TFD has three fire stations staffed throughout the City.
