TIFTON, Ga. – Tifton Police are announcing Pablo Moreno, prime suspect in the October 15 stabbing death of Darinel Noriega, 31, of Tifton, was apprehended in Hillsborough County, Fla. Thursday.
Moreno is currently held by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting extradition to Tifton.
He is charged with:
Felony Murder
Aggravated Assault
Possession of a Knife during the Commission of a Crime
Burglary - 1st degree
Five (5) counts of Cruelty to Children - 3rd degree
Tifton PD is thankful for the cooperation of Florida authorities in apprehending Moreno.
As part of the investigation, a family member of Moreno was taken into custody by Tifton PD Wednesday. Detectives believe this relative may have been involved in transporting the suspect following the crimes.
RECAP OF THURSDAY’S RELEASE:
Tifton Police were called to the 1000 block of Ferry Lake Rd early on Wednesday, where they found Noriega with multiple stab wounds. Noriega later succumbed to his injuries at Tift Regional Medical Center. Through investigation, Tifton detectives identified Moreno as the prime suspect and believe the stabbing may have been related to a domestic dispute.
