TIFTON, Ga. – The Tifton Police Department is announcing details to a significant arrest in connection with a homicide that took place the morning of Feb. 5, 2025.
Emmanuel Matt Uzowihe, 37, of Tifton, has been taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:
• Felony Murder (1 count)
• Aggravated Assault (3 counts)
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (1 count)
• Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime (1 count)
• Criminal Attempt to Commit Rape (1 count)
On Feb. 5, 2025, the Tifton Police Department released a statement that a male adult was in custody following two females that were found wounded in a residence on 11th street.
The press release stated that a Tifton Police Officer was flagged down by a female advising of a disturbance that had just occurred. The complaint led the officer to 307 West 11th Street. Once at the residence, Tifton Police Officers discovered two females suffering from multiple wounds.
The press release stated that one victim succumbed to her injuries and the other victim was in critical condition.
Detectives are continuing to work diligently to determine the sequence of events that occurred the morning of Feb. 5, 2025.
